Aberdour Club Professional, Michael Kanev, has everything you need for your game and if he doesn’t have it, he can get it for you with a quick and efficient service. He is one of only a few Certified Putting Instructors in the country and loves to help golfers with putting and short game!

Michael was born in Bulgaria and moved to Edinburgh in 1997. As an amateur player, he won the Bulgarian Amateur Open in 2006 and then represented Bulgaria in the Eisenhower Trophy – the biggest team competition in the amateur game – in South Africa in 2006.
Having moved to London to begin his PGA career in 2012 as a PGA Assistant, Michael was offered the opportunity to work at Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society in Edinburgh in 2015. After qualifying as a PGA Professional in 2016, Michael was appointed to his 1st Head Professional role by Lochgelly Golf Club in 2018. He then moved back to work in Edinburgh and as Kingsknowe Club Professional from February 2020- October 2023. Michael is now in his 3rd Head Professional role & started at Aberdour in October 2023.
Michael still enjoys playing golf competitively and participates in the PGA Regional Events across Scotland. He lives in Edinburgh with his wife Kamala and their daughter, Maxine.

Jack Stewart – Assistant Professional
Jack recently graduated from UHI with a BA Honours degree in Professional Golf where he studied in Dornoch for 4 years. He’s previously worked at Harburn, Uphall, Royal Dornoch, West Lothian and Kingsknowe prior to starting here.
Jack really enjoys coaching and hoping to help improve a lot of golf games at the club.
Gained his PGA status in 2023.
He’s a fully qualified PGA level 2 golf coach and is now available for individual lessons, so you can contact him on 07519 244 762 to book.
